DANIEL CRAIG rolled up his sleeves and dug through the trash at a recent dinner party - to help a fellow guest recover a missing hearing aid. British journalist Sir Peregrine Worsthorne had difficulty hearing after the device went missing at a gathering in London's Notting Hill - and he was stunned when the James Bond actor offered to help locate it.
But he didn't expect Craig to get down and dirty to find the aid.
Worsthorne writes in the New Statesman: "Daniel Craig, the great film star, took the lead in searching for it. Having looked in all the chairs and sofas, he turned in desperation to the dustbins, not hesitating to plunge his arms into the kitchen waste.
"When it transpired the hearing aid was not lost but hiding in my shirt, having fallen through the open collar, Craig managed to smile rather than scowl; and it was he who went to the off-licence when the booze ran out. A good sport."

Daniel Craig Donates Bond Items To Charity Auction

James Bond star Daniel Craig has donated signed Bond memorabilia to a charity auction designed to raise funds for servicemen and women injured in action.

The auction will take place on February 7 at St John Fisher Catholic School in Harrogate, England, with all proceeds going to Help for Heroes to aid forgotten soldiers injured on active service.

As well as Craig’s items, the auction will also feature unique lots such as a VIP race day at the York Races as well as a three course meal and champagne from Skybet, and a part from a Formula 1 Williams racing car signed by F1 drivers Nico Roseberg and Kazuki Nakajima. There are also concert tickets to see Lemar at Sheffield City Hall, a £200 Azendi jewelry voucher, a print from Yorkshire artist Neil Simone and a stay in Harrogate’s White Hart Hotel.

Paramount Pictures and Sony Pictures Entertainment have announced the start of principal production in Los Angeles on the 3D Motion Capture Film "The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn," directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Jamie Bell ("Billy Elliot," "Defiance") as Tintin, the intrepid young reporter whose relentless pursuit of a good story thrusts him into a world of high adventure, and Daniel Craig ("Quantum of Solace," "Defiance") as the nefarious Red Rackham.

Bell and Craig are joined by an international cast that includes Andy Serkis, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Gad Elmaleh, Toby Jones and Mackenzie Crook.

"The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn," from a screenplay by Steven Moffat, Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish, is produced by Spielberg, Peter Jackson and Kathleen Kennedy, is the first in the series of 3D motion capture films based on the iconic character created by Georges Remi, better known to the world by his pen name "Herge" and is due for release in 2011. Executive producers are Nick Rodwell, Stephane Sperry and Ken Kamins. Paramount Pictures will release domestically and in all English speaking territories and Asia, excluding India. Sony Pictures Releasing International will distribute the film in Continental Europe, Eastern Europe, Latin America, India and the remainder of the world.

The second feature in the series is scheduled to be directed by Jackson, with a potential for a third film as well.

Eighty years ago, Herge introduced the world to a unique cast of characters who have been embraced by readers of all ages. The Adventures of Tintin - a series of 24 books, the final unfinished adventure was published after Herge's - death became Herge's life's work. The first adventure was published in 1929. Over 200 million copies have been sold worldwide. The popular series has been translated into 70 languages and still attracts thousands of new fans each year.

Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson will bring Herge's stories to life employing state-of-the-art performance capture technology developed by Jackson's Weta Digital.

The James Bond heart throb joked that he could not play the Oasis guitarist in a film about the band because of his superior skills.

But 40-year-old Craig also mistakenly paid Gallagher a compliment by saying he was too old for the part of the 41-year-old songwriter.

Craig made the comments at the premiere of his film Defiance in London when asked about rumours of the bizarre offer.

He said: "Noel Gallagher wants me to play him in a movie about his life? That is ridiculous, he must have been in a very good mood to say that.

"I'm way older than him anyway, so I couldn't play him, but I love the idea, it's fantastic.

"I can play the guitar better than Noel can so I don't know how that is really going to work.

"I haven't had a call from Liam yet so I'll wait for that one."

Mancunian Gallagher recently said smooth-talking Craig was the ideal candidate to portray him in a movie about Oasis.

He said: "I wouldn't be averse to a film about Oasis. And I would like Daniel to play me.

"I said to him, 'If you can swing it for me to get the James Bond theme tune, you can play me if they do an Oasis movie.'"

The Quantum of Solace actor admits some of his early roles were "crap" - and he would visit movie shops to try to get them taken off the shelves.

He tells U.S. TV chat show host Jon Stewart, "There was a time when I'd go into Blockbusters and if they had a film of mine on the shelf I used to throw it under the counter. They would always be back there next time."
